It is with much sorrow that we report Mr David Blackwell passed away over the weekend. He was 93.

A celebration of David’s life will be held at the Harewood Memorial Gardens and Crematorium, Wilkinsons Road, Harewood, Christchurch, on Saturday 21, at 2.30pm.

Terrible customer service! My friend got told "this isn't the store for you" how disgusting is that. In my place of work if you treated a customer like that you'd be fired on the spot. Horrible place, looks shabby, overpriced. Cannot believe this was a real experience.

We visited Blackwell's in 2010 on our first trip to NZ. They have a great range & friendly service. It is great to drop in & buy a memento and then visit the cafe for cake. Pleased to see it going so well after being damaged by the earthquake years ago. We always visit Blackwell's when in the South Island

Blackwells is a rare treasure - a destination store for clothing, shoes, homewares, decorating and more. The staff genuinely know and love their products and will provide friendly, personal input when you want it. They are also personally involved in the buying so respond well to what customers really want and feel good in. A fun and productive shopping experience.

A tad expensive but everything is very high quality. They stock some of my favourite brands (R.M.Williams, Crocs, etc.). The staff are very helpful. You can get anything you need here from buttons to pajamas.

I have just had the absolute pleasure of being looked after by Leanne Its a rare thing these days to go in to a department store and feel WELCOME. Walking out, I could see the other staff had the same attitude. Just love love love

What a great range of shoes and clothing. Well worth a trip out to Kaiapoi. Excellent customer service and so much variety of all the essentials and plenty more. Reasonably priced too.

Always a nice wee fossick in this shop.A range of products. Shoes, clothes, baby wear and gifts. Curtain materials, zips, buttons, cushions and covers.Great men's wear section for older generation.Lacking in the "Can I help you" department

Blackwell's Department Store, Cnr and, Williams Street, Kaiapoi 7644. Seems like they have around for ever, this was my Grand Father and Grand Mother number one shop seventy – eighty years ago still going strong. Friendly relaxed shop with good range of clothing and quality merchandise. Never been disappointed going to Blackwell’s.

Beautiful store with a large range of stock, women and men's clothing, shoes, homeware, linen, fishing equipment, gifts. A very upmarket store which has been at the heart of north Canterbury town Kaiapoi for many years. Really worth a visit.
